Running works to lose the baby weight

I have three children.

  • They were born within a five year span.

My husband and I wanted the kids to be close in age. Three pregnancies in such a short amount of time was really hard on my body. I never got the chance to get rid of the baby weight in-between. As a result, I ended up heavier than I’d ever been in my entire life and terribly out of shape. There wasn’t time in my hectic schedule to make a gym membership worthwhile. I started running because it was cheap and convenient. I didn’t need to invest in a bunch of special equipment. As long as somebody was available to watch the kids, I could head out on a run. Whether I had the time to run for fifteen minutes or an hour, I got a good workout. I managed to burn a lot of calories, work up a good sweat and get my heart pumping. At first, I was only capable of running for about half a mile before I’d need to walk for a bit. It didn’t take long, however, to build up my stamina. I steadily improved my speed and distance. Along with targeting physical fitness, I also changed my eating habits. I stopped drinking coffee, alcohol and pop. I eliminated red meat, pasta, cheese and fast foods from my diet. I started eating a lot more fresh fruits and vegetables and began experimenting with tofu and fish. I noticed a rapid decrease in my weight even while I gained muscle tone. I felt so much healthier, stronger and fit. I had more energy throughout the day and slept better at night. The only problem was some pain in my feet and my ankles. I realized that this was caused by cheap sneakers. I’ve since spent a lot more money on a really good pair of running shoes, and I often head out on ten-mile runs.
