Some Beekeepers Will Take Those Bees for no Fees

My grandpa has lived in his lake house for over 63 years. It was our mom’s childhood lake house and our grandpa refused to leave. When our grandma passed away, our mom and I asked him if he wanted to live with one of us, but he said no and wanted to remain in his own space. Luckily, the home isn’t far from our mom’s home so she can check on our grandpa at any given time. Anyway, our lovely grandpa mentioned that he had some bees in a tree in his yard, and at the time he told us, I didn’t know anything about it. After all, the home is in a rural section and bees are a respected thing in that region. Every one of us were shocked to discover that it wasn’t just a few bees, it was an entire hive, and it required a residential bee removal business. After contacting a few bee removal companies, our mom found a local beekeeper instead, and best of all, the beekeeper provided to remove the hive for free as long as they were little honey bees. Thankfully, they were, and it was a simple removal for the beekeeper! My grandpa was so ecstatic that the bees were gone and when we asked him again if he wanted to finally leave the house, he again said no. The honey bees were not a danger to him, in fact, bees are officially docile unless they believe they are threatened. But if this was a wasp nest that grew out of control, that could have been a danger to our grandpa. I just hope that one afternoon soon he will be open to moving out of that home so we can better keep an eye on him.
