When I was younger I used to be completely obsessed with the idea of being in a relationship.
I didn’t think that I could survive on my own if I didn’t have a partner.
Having a love interest meant something to me about my value as a human being and a woman. I think that it was some kind of unhealthy ideal which was sold to us by the media when I was a lot younger. However, these days I can tell you that I am much happier living on my own and being responsible for only my own brain. One of the things that consistently bummed me out when it came to my romantic partnerships was our perpetual bickering over stupid things such as the heating, cooling, and air quality control system. I have never lived with somebody who allowed me to have an equal say in the heating, cooling, and ventilation system settings. I am always V partner who is way too cold for way too hot because the other person has adjusted the heating or cooling system without asking. I feel like I am regularly trying to dodge air vents because the Ice Cold air Conditioning or brutally dry heating system is bothering me. Unfortunately, this never seems to be yet an obstacle that I can overcome with my previous romantic partners. We always end up fighting in front of the thermostat and yelling about the energy bill each month. I’ve got to say, living life alone is a lot easier when you can control your own indoor air temperature control settings.
