Ski vacation is more enjoyable when cabin has heated floors

Every winter, my family takes a two-week ski vacation in the mountains.

We rent a cabin that is accessible from the slopes. We wake up in the morning, strap on our skis and spend the whole day outside, trying out different slopes. My husband and three children love to ski and are reluctant to return to the cabin at the end of the day. I’m not as avid of a skier. I get cold and tired very easily, and would prefer to remain bundled up in the cabin, sipping hot chocolate and reading on my kindle. This past year, we were unable to book our regular cabin. We ended up spending more money for nicer accommodations in a better location. I was delighted to discover that our upgraded cabin included radiant floor heating. I had never experienced heated floors before, and I loved them. There is nothing quite as luxurious as walking barefoot on a warm floor. The heat was spread consistently from corner to corner, and there was no drafts or cold spots or stratification. Every object that touched the floor, was also warm and radiated heat. I really enjoyed lying on the floor and soaking up the radiant heating. When my family headed to the slopes in the morning, I promised to join them shortly. Instead, I spent the whole day inside the cabin, reading and snacking and taking advantage of the radiant heat. I never wanted to leave. I’ve found that I prefer staying warm to skiing. I will be much more eager to participate in the vacation next year. I might not even bring my skis with me.
