I decided to add a second air return to improve my HVAC performance

Every year I try to make small improvements to my house and my property.

I was proud when I finished my hand-built wooden fence and watched as the stain I applied myself dried into a beautiful, glossy amber brown.

After the fence went up, I decided the house could use a new coat of paint and opted to change the white to a nice pale blue. The finished paint job looked fantastic, especially with the darker blue that I used on varying parts of the trim and the two window shutters in the very front. After I got most of the visual things outdoors addressed, I turned my attention to the inside of my house. I paid to have my kitchen and bathrooms remodeled with new cabinets, sinks, vanities, and showers. During the remodelling, I paid to have the old laminate flooring torn out and replaced with ceramic tile. The finished work looks phenomenal, and I know I have added considerable equity to my home’s value. But, I wanted to do one more thing in particular, and that was to improve my central HVAC system. I had already installed a high rated air conditioner but was having issues with the ductwork. The pressure wasn’t balanced between the intake and outtake, which meant that the machine was struggling to pull in enough air each second to compensate for the large number of air vents throughout my house. I paid to have a second air return added to my house to allow more air to get drawn into the system as it runs, drastically improving its performance and efficiency. After the upgrade, my house is feeling a lot more comfortable and my electricity bill has dropped slightly.
