I have this good friend who I always believed was really smart.
He has given me excellent advice over the years and he has always had my back.
Well eventually, I decided to do something that I thought was a good move. I studied all about working on HVAC systems. I looked at numerous DIY HVAC repair and maintenance websites and videos. When I was confident, I finally started working on my HVAC after shutting the power down to it and it wasn’t hard for me to clean everything out and find the problematic parts. I ended up replacing the parts with OEM parts that were for my HVAC model and when I had it all done, my HVAC system was working like new! I ended up telling my friend about what I did, and he said that was the most foolish thing I could have done. He said by working on the HVAC system, I basically voided the warranty because I was not an official HVAC professional. I always thought my friend was smart, but I thought it was foolish for him to say that. I get that I may have voided the warranty, but he is not paying attention to the fact that I actually fixed my HVAC system! It hasn’t had any issues and I am confident that I can repair it again if it has any trouble. I learned the most important thing is to keep it all clean and keep up with the air filter changes. I believe I will save a fortune by not having to call the HVAC pros, and here my friend is freaking about the stupid warranty.
